Cast All Your Anxieties on Him

1 Peter 5:6-7 | October 22 - 28, 2023

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

~ 1 Peter 5:6-7

As believers, we find life and joy in Christ’s name. 1 Peter 1:3 tells us, “He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” Since we are new creations, born anew to a living hope through Christ Jesus, we are not meant to be anxious.

In Philippians 4:5-6, Paul reminds us, “The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

We know that we can approach the throne of God through our position in Christ.

Anxiety is a state of uneasiness related to an event in which the outcome is uncertain. It demonstrates a lack of trust in our Creator. Anxiety or worry can lead to poor decision-making, even ill health, which is why we are instructed in 1 Peter 5:6 to “cast all our anxieties upon Him—because He cares for us.”
We do that by prayer and supplication. Supplication is the act of asking for something earnestly or humbly. We know that we can approach the throne of God through our position in Christ. And we know that when we humbly present our requests to God, He is faithful to hear us. In that we are granted the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding. In that we can walk boldly.
Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus. We thank you that in Him, we are saved.
Let us walk boldly through this life, being anxious for nothing, knowing we are in your grip and precious in your sight.
IN JESUS’ NAME, AMEN
